We’re continuing to monitor the winter weather system that is currently impacting our area for the rest of tonight and potentially early Monday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory for the Grand Strand is still in effect per The National Weather Service, as rainfall will continue throughout the night.

The latest local forecasts note freezing rain for a few hours that should transition to regular heavy rains and potential thunderstorms tonight and Monday morning. Officials recommend caution on bridges, overpasses, and sidewalks, as slick areas remain.  The remainder of the Winter Weather Advisory does not suggest any more severe weather starting Monday morning and expects road and travel conditions to return to normal.

At this time, all Lakewood operations are running normally, with no changes to schedules, activities, or services.

We’re continuing to monitor the winter weather system expected to impact our area early today. A Winter Weather Advisory for the Grand Strand is still in effect per The National Weather Service, primarily for the potential of light freezing rain early today that will lessen into a drizzle and dissipate before Monday morning.

The latest local forecasts continue to show a trend toward less moisture and slightly warmer temperatures starting later today, which reduces the threat of significant ice impacts along the Grand Strand. Ice accumulations are noted throughout the Myrtle Beach area, leaving slick spots on bridges, overpasses, and sidewalks.  Temperatures will begin to rise to the upper 40s starting later today, removing travel concerns and slowly transitioning us out of the Winter Weather Advisory.

At this time, all Lakewood operations are running normally, with no changes to schedules, activities, or services.
